Travel to know a Jewish community on the other side of the globe!
The Shinshin year in Montreal is filled with personal development, empowerment, and meaningful experiences. The cohort in Montreal begins its journey at the Jewish Agency. After a series of personal interviews and qualification processes – 5 to 7 Shinshinim are selected to travel for a life-changing year in Montreal. The cohort is led by a professional from the Jewish Agency with rich educational experience.
During this year, all the Shinshinim will develop and initiate educational activities related to Israel for schools, youth movements, synagogues, and summer camps (during the summertime). Each Shinshin will focus on developing the local school. In addition, one Shinshin will accompany the Montreal Diller Teen Fellow cohort, and two more will participate in the CBB summer camp, which our Leadership Together participants will join. Shinshinim is a considerable part of all these meaningful experiences that the program participants go through.
The Shinshinim year in Montreal is intense and busy, which is unsuitable for everyone. Our ambition is that the alumni of our various programs will qualify for the Shinshin year in Montreal. Therefore, we hold special sessions and meetings about the importance of Shinshinim during the annual programs. We significantly advance self-growth and development among the participants during the different programs.
During the year in Montreal, the cohort is hosted by local adoptive families so that each receives their own Montreal family. After six months, they switch to another household. This way, the Shinshinim connect and magnetize with the local way of living and even experience Montreal as their home, or as we like to call it: “Home away from home.”
